Clean it:
Ensure your stove gets enough air by cleaning out any ash and debris.
Prepare it:
Prep your firestarter kit with dry tinder (like twine, newspaper, or cotton balls with Vaseline), starter kindling (small wood shards or bark), feeder kindling (wood the size of your pinky), and base/fuel logs that fit the stove.
Build it:
Place base logs on each side of the firebox, with tinder in the middle. Stack kindling in a criss-cross pattern over the tinder, leaving space for airflow.
Light it:
Ignite the tinder and make sure the kindling catches quickly. Once the fire starts, push it toward the back of the firebox to help the stove draft properly.
Fuel it:
Once your kindling is burning well, add one or two small fuel logs and close the door. Keep air intake vents open, but avoid overloading the stove with wood to prevent overheating or inefficiency.
Watch it:
Have all materials ready before lighting. A well-prepped fire should take just a few minutes to start, and minimal wood is needed to keep your tent stove warm and ready for cooking.
